Etta Glen’s nursing career was marked by compassion and dedication to the health service both in the UK and Jamaica.
Answering England’s call Etta arrived in the UK in 1961 as one of the Windrush generation. She joined the NHS and trained as a psychiatric nurse working in institutions such as Hollymore Hospital in Northfield and Highcroft Hospital in Erdington where she served a total of 18 years collectively.
Returning to Jamaica in 1982 she continued her medical career serving a further 13 years at Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay.
She retired at the age of 60, having earned recognition for her caring approach.
Sadly, Etta passed away on 4th December 2025 aged 90 and at her funeral received an honour guard for her service to Queen, King and Country.
