SS Empire Windrush Remembrance Sunday Service

SS Empire Windrush Remembrance Sunday is an annual event held at Holy Trinity Church. As with all Services of Remembrance it offers us a moment of reflection, contemplation and celebration for the achievements made by the people from the Caribbean who once again answered England's call for help.

In 1948, skilled professionals joined returning military personnel to help rebuild, care and protect a war torn country.

This year members of HMS Forward joined veterans from the Army and RAF as we paid tribute to the nurses who were recruited directly from the Caribbean to work in the newly formed NHS in 1948. Their legacy lives on through each generation...

Those early pioneers bought hope, help and friendship...

And when someone is in need of help they'd call a friend without delay, and England had many friends who came, which is why we celebrate Windrush Day.
